This postcard displays the extreme damage that was done by the April 1924 Anderson Tornado at Riverside Mills. The tornado touched down on the Georgia-South Carolina border before making its way towards Anderson. When the tornado reached the city it traveled into town and through East River Street. Overall the tornado killed nine, left hundreds homeless, and caused millions of dollars in property damage. The Great Anderson Tornado was part of a larger outbreak of damaging weather that struck the southern United States in April of 1924.
