Learn about our artifact of the week: a 1963 Fair Events for the Anderson County Colored Fair Association. The artifact gives a glimpse into the world of segregated Anderson in the 1960’s. This program lists sponsors, exhibits, and rules for the Anderson County Colored Fair. The Colored Fair happened the week after the Anderson County Fair and lasted from the mid 1910’s to the end of legal segregation in 1964. Many of the Anderson County Colored Fair Association’s Board of Directors were prominent African-American businesspeople and civic leaders.
