Do you remember having ice delivered? This souvenir spoon and bottle opener was given away by the Anderson City Ice Plant opened by the Townsend brothers in 1889. The factory was capable of producing more than 5 tons of ice a day! In the 1920s the factory was on West Market Street in Anderson. It doubled as the local Pepsi Bottling Company and also sold ice cream and cold produce.
Each week, look for the Artifact of the Week from the Anderson County Museum to explore even more of our collection.
